Nancy Bachrach, New York CIty

This is Alfie, my best friend and muse. We live in Manhattan with Mitzi, a miniature long-haired dachsund as well as Natasha and Sabrina, our Norwegian Forest cats (oops — and my husband Bob too.)
I’ve been a photographer for over 25 years, but my professional life changed after volunteering at the ASPCA photographing newly arrived dogs and cats for their adoption website. I knew then that I wanted to spend the rest of my life photographing animals. Working with shelter animals taught me how to quickly make friends with any dog or cat in order to capture their unique expression and personality. Today I photograph all different types of animals and feel privileged to spend time with every one of them.
I have studied extensively with some of New York’s best photographers, and am a long time student at the International Center of Photography (ICP.) I am proud to be on the Board of Professional Women Photographers (PWP) and a member of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP.)
My book, ANIMAL WISDOM, is available through the blurb.com bookstore. Ten percent of all my photography session fees and book sales are donated to animal rescue organizations.
